WHY DIRECT PRIMARY CARE (DPC)?
DPC Medicine is an emerging healthcare business model. This membership-based model allows patients unlimited visits, in-home options, 24/7 access to their medical team and longer appointment times. While standard fee-for-service providers get paid based on how many patients they see, DPC providers do not. This is why a typical doctor’s office only allows you 10-15 minutes with your provider and wait times can be up to an hour. For most healthcare providers, more patients = more money made.
In contrast, DPC providers are not paid based on the number of patients they see. This key component allows for fewer patients and more personalized care. There is no financial incentive for seeing 30 patients a day or being booked for months on end. By bypassing insurance, we are able to practice medicine by our terms without the hassles of insurance companies. Other DPC benefits can include:
Continuity of care (always seeing the same provider)
Limited use of waiting rooms
Same day appointments
Discounted cash pricing for labs and radiology
Stronger patient/provider relationships
Lower incidence of Emergency Room and Urgent Care visits
